“Success is imitated if you feel JAMES MEAD –FOUNDER OF JUICE |
![]() |
Juice was founded by James Mead in 2004. James had travelled extensively around America and Australia where he first experienced the benefits of freshly squeezed juices and smoothies.
When James returned back to the UK, he realised that there was an opportunity to introduce something similar to what he had seen on his travels that offered a healthy alternative for people on the go. James began to research the Juice bar industry in more depth and discovered how people were incorporating smoothies and juices into there diets in order to lose weight and generate more energy. With that in mind James decided to trial his own program which consisted of replacing his normal breakfast with a 16oz smoothie and drinking a large fresh juice before lunch and before dinner. The results were amazing and within 3 weeks James had lost over a stone in weight and was experiencing much higher energy levels. After experiencing the benefits of his juicing regime James felt so revitalised and passionate about the change within himself that within 8 months he had opened his first store and the first ever Juice Bar in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Two years later he opened his flag ship store in the White Rose Shopping centre (Leeds) and within one year of trading the store was turning over in excess of a quarter of a million pounds. In 2010 Juice launched its first franchise in Harrogate, West Yorkshire. James has further plans to open another 3 stores during 2011, with a long term plan for national franchises to dominate the Juice bar industry.
Juice has earned its renowned reputation through offering nutritional, functional fresh juices and smoothies that enhance its customers lifestyles and needs. All the drinks are freshly blended to order in-store where the customer can experience first hand the goodness and care that goes into every drink.
Juice offers over 30 different smoothies and juices all made with real fruit and can advise customers on nutritional benefits in order to answer any lifestyle requirements. Whether a customer wants to build muscle, boost immunity levels or lose weight, Juice staff can help their customers make the right choice.

What type of locations fit into Juice Site Allocation Criteria?
Juice Franchises are generally 300 to 800 square feet; however, smaller or larger stores are an option. They are usually located in neighbourhood and community strip centres, shopping malls, universities, airports and downtown business district locations. The optimal area is typically densely populated, has significant traffic count, is highly visible and is located near numerous traffic generators.
Are there any continuing or ongoing fees after I pay the initial franchise fee?
Yes. You pay an ongoing management service fee of 6% percent of monthly sales. Advertising expenses
include reserving 2% of your weekly gross sales to be spent by you on local marketing. 2% of your monthly sales will be paid into the Juice Marketing Fund for additional advertising expenses.
Is experience in running a small business required?
While small business experience is helpful, it is not required. You will receive step-by-step training at Juice in the important aspects of operating your business, including operational, marketing, and nutritional and customer service classes. You will also receive hands-on training behind the smoothie bar and on the sales floor. During training, you will receive and learn how to use the Juice Manuals.
Do I have to run the store?
You are not required to run your store; however, the most successful stores are those operated by the
owner(s) or a seasoned retail manager.
Does Juice make money from any products or supplies distributed to the stores?
No, Juice does not mark up any goods, items or supplies distributed to the stores. We believe that by helping our franchisees reduce their cost they will in turn be more profitable and open more stores.
How much training do I receive?
10 days of training are split up into three segments. Each franchisee receives one day of orientation (pre-store opening), 4 consecutive days of management training prior to opening and five days of on-site training (two days prior to opening and three days after opening).
What are the Juice hours of operation?
The opening times are location dependant and each location will be advised by Head Office during their initial training.
Do smoothies sell in cold climates?
Yes. While you may see seasonal changes, with constant local marketing our loyal guests continue to visit because of the functionality of our smoothies and superior guest experiences.
